The event took place at the Konye Municipal grand stand.
The population of Konye Sub-division in Meme Division of the South West Region have turned out massively on February 11, 2025 to celebrate the 59th edition of the Cameroon National Youth Day.
They came from nooks and crannies of the Municipality for the joyful and peaceful celebration following a serious mobilisation by the Divisional Officer for Konye, Attah Moses Ndep, and the Mayor of Konye Council, Dr Barrister Musima George Lobe.
The massive turn out of the population that was constituted of elites, Traditional rulers, Clergies and a cross section of the population are indicative that normalcy is gradually returning in the Sub-division.
In an exhilarating style, the National Youth Council and the Youth wing of the Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement party, CPDM led by Itoe Nanje Marcel took the lead in the march past. Other groupings, such as the Mbenge Youths, Likoyah Youths of Ngolo- Bolo, Traditional groups and the Bike riders also paraded across the grand stand to give the event the grandiose that it deserved.
The staging of the march past came after the message to the Youth from the Head of State was resounded.
Thereafter, there was an Address to the Youths from the President of the Cameroon National Youth Council of Konye, CNYC, Njonji Johnson Bappe who called on the Youths as leaders of tomorrow not to relent their efforts in being patriotic while serving the nation.
The event was interspersed with traditional dancing from the Youths and the handing of prizes to institutions of learning that distinguished themselves from the others as well as the handing over of a cash prize to the winner and looser of a gallery football game that took place on February 10 at the Konye Municipal grand stand.
Prior to the event, a walk for unity and peace took place on February 10, 2025 from Konye to Kokaka and back to Konye.
