DESCRIPTION:Konye Council Makes Significant Progress In PIPs Execution. \nThe Konye Council\, situated along the Kumba-Mamfe road in Meme Division of the South West region\, has made significant progress in the realization of Public Investment Projects\, PIPs in the Division. This was noticed on July 24\, 2025 at the Divisional delegation of the Ministry of Planning\, Economy and Regional Development\, MINEPAT\, during the second quarter Divisional participatory follow up committee meeting for the execution of the Public Investment Budget\, PIB of Meme Division.\nThe meeting supervised by its Vice Chair\, Francisca Nzemenjou\, also had in attendance\, the Divisional Delegate of MINEPAT\, Stephanie Tankeu\, Mayors\, Heads of de-concentrated services\, Contractors\, Traditional rulers and cross section of the population.\nWelcoming the participants\, the Vice chairperson\, thanked all for coming and requested for a candid and collaborative deliberation.\nAccording to the statistics communicated by the Divisional Delegate of MINEPAT\, the Konye Council integrating with more projects in the hinterlands\, has scored a 40.13 percent of its 11 projects envisage for the 2025 fiscal year.\nThe projects under construction include among others\, the rehabilitation of the Koba- Mambaba road( 12 km)\, the construction of an integrated health center at Wone\, the equipment of the Konye Council Community Radio( KCCR)\, the rehabilitation of the Konye Council Business center at Ngolo-bolo\, the construction of a slaughter house at Koba market\, the construction of a Fish pond at Konye\, the construction of a market hangar at Lobange\, the construction of a nursery block at GNS Dipenda and the equipment of the nursery block at GNS Dipenda.\nThe figures also placed the Kumba III Council with some 11 projects at the top in the execution of projects in the Division with a 46.14 percent increase\, far from the 10.16 percent it scored at this time of the year in 2024. Kumba II Council with headquarters in Fiango emerged 2nd with a 40.41 percent of the execution of its 10 projects\, while the City Council tailed the chart with 11.35 percent of its two projects that are undergoing construction. A noticeable drop in the realization of projects\, came from the Mbonge Council that had a 21.35 percent realization of its projects\, down from the 51.49 percent it had during the second quarter of the Divisional participatory meeting in 2024.\nWhile lauding Councils that keeps on fostering progress and development in their respective municipalities\, she as well called on Councils that are lagging behind to improve and queue up with their peers by putting in more energy to develop their communities.\nIn her closing remarks\, Zemenjou Francisca urged the various stakeholders to personalized projects to yield better results. She however frowned at Councils that are not represented during such sessions\, as she underscored that the government is puting in much which the various authorities need to defend by executing the projects effectively.

DESCRIPTION:Konye Council Adopts 2024 Accounts \nThe 2024 accounts of the Konye Council in Meme division of the South West Region\, have been adopted.\nThis was during the first ordinary session of the Council for the year 2025\, dedicated to the examination and adoption of the Administrative\, Management and Stores Accounts of the Konye Council for the 2024 financial year. \nThe session was chaired by the Mayor of the Konye Council\, Dr Barrister\, Musima George Lobe\, in the presence of the Divisional Officer of Konye Sub-division\, Attah Moses Ndep\, representing the Senior Divisional Officer\, SDO\, for Meme Division\, Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong\, supervisory authority of Councils in the Division. \nAddressing the plenary\, Mayor Musima Lobe stated the year under review operated on an approved budget of 999\,500\,000 FCFA\, balance in revenue and expenditure. \nIn the course of the year\, the administrative accounts present a balance sheet as follows: budgeted revenue 999\,500\,000 FCFA\, Realized Revenue 511\,532\,387 FCFA\, Percentage realized 51.18. \nThe council registered a slight increase in the percentage of realization compared to the previous year 2023.\nThe realized revenue for the 2024 financial year increased from 46.68 percent to 51.18 percent\, a 4.5 percent increase. \nThere was also an increase at the level of recurrent expenditure\, where the council moved from 14.71 percent last year to 19.98 percent this year\, giving a 5.27 percent increase. \nThe budgeted investment projects of the council for 2024\, stood at 608\,052\,255 FCFA\, for which seven were Public Investment Projects\, five executed while two are ongoing. \nProjects Executed \nThe financial year 2024 witnessed the construction of a nursery school block at G.N.S Konye under the Ministry of Basic Education; extension of 60 solar lights to Ndoi and Kokaka from the Ministry of Decentralisation and Local Development; construction of a modern poultry farm in konye under the Ministry of Livestock\, Fisheries\, the Animal Industries; equipping of a municipal library in konye Town by the Ministry of Arts and Culture\, and; provision of support equipment to Common Initiative Groups\, CIGs\, in Konye Sub-division by the Ministry of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises\, Social Economy\, and Handicrafts; \nOngoing Projects \nKonye Council Adopts 2024 Administrative/Management Accounts\nKonye D.O pose with Mayor and other Municipal Councilors\nThese include the rehabilitation of the Kombone Bafaw-Lobange-Illeh farm to market road\, and; the rehabilitation of the Wone-Dipenda-Koba-Ibe\nmi farm to market road. \nProjects not executed \nThe construction of a modern council chamber in konye Town by FEICOM is yet to commence due to non-compensation of the land expropriated for the purpose.\nAt the moment\, all has been put in place for the project to commence.\n“So far\, we have a total execution rate of 81.875%\,” the mayor stated. \nOn his part\, the representative of Meme SDO called on Municipal Councilors \nKonye Council Adopts 2024 Administrative/Management Stores Accounts.\nto fulfill their civic duty by registering and sensitizing the population to enroll on the electoral register for upcoming political consultations in Cameroon.

DESCRIPTION:Boost National Intergration\, Living Together \nNW Fons’ Pay Courtesy Visit To Konye \nBoost National Integration\, Living Together \nA courtesy visit paid by some Fons of the North West Region to Konye town in Konye Sub-division in Meme division of the South West region\, on Saturday\, December 7\, 2024\, has fostered national integration and living together among indigenes and the North West community in the sub-division. \nLed by the President of the General Assembly of the North West Fons’ Union (NOWEFU)\, His Majesty Senator Fon Teche Njei of Ngien-Muwa\, the delegation also comprised of the Fons of Bambui\, Kedjom-Ketigom\, Kai and Bujung \nOn hand to welcome the Fons of the North West region to Konye were the Divisional Officer of Konye Sub-division\, Attah Moses Ndep; Mayor of Konye Council\, Dr. Barrister Musima George Lobe; traditional rulers of Konye Subdivision\, and; the living forces in the division. \nThe visit started with a peace walk from the palace of the Chief of Konye Town (Bakundu)\, His Majesty Mediko John Mediko III\, to the ceremonial ground at the esplanade of Konye Council\, by traditional rulers of Konye Sub-division and the Fons of the North West Region. \nIn an address on the occasion\, Mayor Musima Lobe\, Officer of the Cameroon Order of Merit\, expressed happiness in welcoming everybody to Konye municipality\, stating that it was a privilege and honour to the over 80\,000 inhabitants of the administrative unit.\nHe noted\, Konye Sub-division has four indigenous tribes which include Bakundu\, Mbonge\, Bafaw and Balong\, spread in some 37 villages.\nMusima revealed that the main stay of the population is agriculture but the people also carried out fishing\, trade and crafts. \nAccording to the mayor\, there is a great deal of peaceful co-existence in Konye as demonstrated by the indigenes and other tribes.\n“Worth mentioning is that the Chief of Menka in the North West Region lives in Ngolo Bolo in Konye Sub-division. North Westerners are municipal councillors here and many are involved.

DESCRIPTION:The Kumba I Sub Divisional Council emerged champion for the South West Region during the 5th Edition of Regional Prize from the Fund for the Promotion of Local Authorities (FEICOM) National Awards for Best Municipal Practice for Local Development. \nThe council was declared the flag-bearer of the South West Region Thursday\, December 14\, 2023\, during a solemn award ceremony chaired by the Minister of Decentralization and Local Development. \nThe prize was announced by the president of the International jury Madame Fatimatou MINT ABDEL MALICK who added that the municipality is being recognized for proper resource management\, award winning initiative mobilization of financial resources. \nThis accolade not only highlights the council’s dedication to community development but also underscores its commitment to sustainable growth in the region. The prize amounts to an impressive fifteen million francs\, a significant boost for local initiatives. \n
